Arriving at Peretola for Florence and Tuscany
Florence's airport at Peretola is small and close in, about 10 km from the Duomo. It has very little room for buses, so a minibus pick-up here is planned around your landing rather than left to chance.
Three bays and careful timing
Since March 2026 buses entering the airport may stop and wait only in the bus car park, which has three bays, one of them kept free for emergencies. Cars with driver have their own marked bays and may not stop anywhere else. Engines go off on arrival and start again no more than five minutes before leaving.
With only two bays in normal use, nobody can linger, so the operator sets the pick-up time from your landing. A quick message once the bags are off the belt lets the vehicle come in as you walk out.

The short drive into Florence
The centre is around 25 minutes away in light traffic. Florence's bus rules cover the whole built-up area, not only the old town, and a hired minibus with more than nine seats counts as a bus there, so it needs the city's permit, bought online in advance. The operator takes care of it.
Inside the ring of viali, buses keep to set routes to official stops. Piazza Savonarola is for setting down only, while Piazzale Michelangelo allows pick-ups too. The stop nearest your hotel may be a short walk from it, so wheeled cases help.

Worth knowing about Florence Airport
- Pisa (Piazza dei Miracoli) is about 93 km by road, about 1 h 30 min in light traffic.
- San Gimignano is about 63 km by road, about 1 h 20 min in light traffic.
- Siena (Piazza del Campo) is about 87 km by road, about 1 h 45 min in light traffic.
- The coach area has only 3 bays, so the coach operator plans the pick-up time closely.
- Tram line T2 has its terminus at the airport and runs to the city centre; a bus line also links the airport with Firenze Santa Maria Novella station.
Chianti, Siena and San Gimignano
Peretola is a natural start for a Tuscan week. San Gimignano is about 63 km, around 1 h 20 min, and Siena's Piazza del Campo about 87 km, nearer 1 h 45 min, so a midday arrival can still end with an evening in Siena. Pisa is roughly an hour and a half away.
What travellers ask us
Is there a tram into the city?
Yes. Tram line T2 starts at the airport and runs into the centre, and a bus serves Santa Maria Novella station. With heavy luggage or young children, the minibus is simpler.
Could Pisa airport suit us better?
It can, if its flight times work better for you. Pisa airport is about 85 km from Florence's Duomo, roughly 1 h 40 min by road, so count that drive into the first day.
Where will the vehicle be waiting?
A minibus uses the bus car park; a car with driver uses its marked bays. The airport names no group meeting point, so the exact place reaches you with the booking.
