Pisa Airport: the Tower, Lucca and the Coast
Pisa's airport lies barely 5 km from the Leaning Tower, and it is the gateway many small groups use for Tuscany and the Cinque Terre. A minibus with driver lets the trip begin at the arrivals exit, with the luggage stowed once.
Bus bays by agreement
Under the rules in force since June 2026, bus car park P6 has five bays reserved for buses holding an agreement with the airport's management company, with three further bays beneath the canopy facing the terminal. The coach operator arranges that agreement, and your meeting point is confirmed with the booking. A car with driver has six bays of its own in the Parcheggio Terminal, across from where arrivals come out, and may wait there for an hour.
Engines are switched off while vehicles stand, which is worth knowing on a hot afternoon: board promptly and settle in.

The Tower first, if you like
Piazza dei Miracoli is about 15 minutes away. Buses entering Pisa, and a minibus over nine seats is one, first call at the check point at the Pietrasantina park-and-ride and then keep to designated bus corridors. A stop for the Tower is therefore planned in advance rather than improvised on the day.
If your hotel sits inside one of the camera-controlled zones in the centre, the hotel also registers the vehicle's transit with the city beforehand. Mention the hotel when you enquire.

Worth knowing about Pisa International Airport
- Livorno (port area) is about 25 km by road, about 30 min in light traffic.
- La Spezia is about 85 km by road, about 1 h 20 min in light traffic.
- Lucca (Piazza San Michele) is about 35 km by road, about 40 min in light traffic.
- Firenze (Piazza del Duomo) is about 85 km by road, about 1 h 40 min in light traffic.
- Pisa is a common gateway for Tuscany tours and for the Cinque Terre.
- The Pisa Mover automated shuttle links the airport with Pisa Centrale station in about 5 minutes, with one intermediate stop; regional trains run from Pisa Centrale to Firenze and Lucca.
Lucca, the Cinque Terre and Livorno
Lucca's Piazza San Michele is about 35 km, around 40 minutes, and Florence roughly 1 h 40 min. For the Cinque Terre the minibus takes you to La Spezia, about 85 km and 1 h 20 min; from there trains and boats do the rest, because the villages' roads have almost no room for buses. Cruise passengers bound for Livorno's port area face only about 25 km, some half an hour.
What travellers ask us
Is the Pisa Mover a good option?
It links the airport with Pisa Centrale in about five minutes, with regional trains on to Florence and Lucca. Travelling light, it works well; with children and suitcases, one vehicle is calmer.
Can the minibus drive us into a Cinque Terre village?
Plan on not. The villages sit at the end of steep, narrow roads, and the local council points visitors to the trains and boats from La Spezia. The minibus can meet you again in La Spezia at the end of the day.
How long can a car with driver wait?
Up to 60 minutes in its bays in front of arrivals, which usually covers a slow baggage hall.
