Team Outings in Italy, in One Minibus or Several
A company day out is at its best when nobody from the office has to drive, find the way or count heads in a car park. A department of twelve fits one minibus; a larger team takes a midibus, a coach, or a small convoy of minibuses starting from different hotels.
What the hire covers
In Italy a bus hired with its driver is booked for a period, a duration and a total amount fixed before the day, under the law on bus hire (Legge 218/2003). That suits a team outing well: you know in advance where the minibus goes, for how long, and what the whole day comes to, with no meter ticking.

Late dinner, early start: the driver's rest
Every driver works under the EU rules on driving time. A day at the wheel is capped at 9 hours, stretched to 10 only twice a week, with a 45-minute pause after four and a half hours of driving, which can be taken as 15 minutes and then 30. Between working days the driver needs at least 11 hours off, which may drop to 9 on at most three occasions between weekly rests.
So a gala dinner ending near midnight and an airport run at seven the next morning cannot be one person's job. Put both in the same request, and a second driver is planned from the start.
Rules to know before you set off
- A coach driver must take a break of at least 45 minutes after no more than 4.5 hours of driving; it may be split into 15 minutes followed by 30 minutes
- A coach hired with a driver carries a group for trips whose period, duration and total amount are agreed in advance (L. 218/2003 art. 2 c. 2)
Ideas a short drive from the office
Milan teams often head for Franciacorta, about 1 h 20 min away near Lake Iseo. From Florence, Greve in Chianti is roughly 40 minutes out; Bologna sits about an hour from the Ferrari museum at Maranello, and from Turin the Reggia di Venaria Reale is about 25 minutes away.
For the Salone del Mobile, from 13 to 18 April 2027 at Fiera Milano in Rho, plenty of visitors ride the M1 metro to Rho Fieramilano. A minibus earns its place when clients wait at several hotels; the operator confirms where it can set down at the fair.
What travellers ask us
How many people fit in one minibus?
Between 9 and 16 passengers, depending on the layout. For a team of thirty, a midibus with 29 to 35 seats is usually simpler than two minibuses.
Can one driver stay with us for a week-long incentive trip?
Often, yes, within the EU caps of 56 hours of driving in a week and 90 hours across two consecutive weeks. The operator plans the days so the driver stays inside them.
What should the request include?
The date, the headcount, every pick-up address, the fixed times such as a lunch booking or a flight, and any luggage or boxes. If a winery or a boat is part of the day, name it.
